It is mandatory for students to have secured a place in a university or have a written approval for preparatory study measures, before they apply for a VISA.

The VISA authorities take into consideration the following before granting a VISA :

Whether the applicant is genuinely a student intending to pursue further studies in Germany,
The applicant adheres and abides by the VISA conditions,
Shall depart once the course completes.

It lies upon the applicant student to convince the VISA officer regarding i) his adequacy with the level of proficiency required in German language for the course he/she shall be undertaking, ii) whether the course is in line with his/her academic background and future pursuits, iii) whether the applicant meets with the requirements mentioned in the above point.

The entire process of securing a VISA may take up 8 – 10 weeks.
